The space

The Brett Cabin is located atTaos Goji Eco Lodge and Farm Retreat. Our cabins are nestled in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and surrounded by national forest. Our charming & quaint, historic log cabins and casitas are in close proximity to Taos (11 miles) and the Taos Ski Valley and Red River (ca: 20 miles).

We are dog friendly, no cats please due to allergies. Please check if you would like to bring more than one dog.

Pet Rules:
Please keep your pet off furniture and attended at all times on the property. Pick up after your pooch and keep your dog on a leash on our land. If you leave please crate your dog in the cabin, granted s/he doesn’t get anxious and disturb the neighboring guests.

The cabin is a studio and part of a duplex and can sleep 2 people in a queen bed.

We do have a small farm cafe, generally opening on Memorial Day and closing on Labor Day. We also serve pastries, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, yoghurt, berries and fritata for a suggested donation. San Cristobal is a small village and our eco lodge was built at the turn of last century. Aldous Huxley lived and wrote in our cabins and we found water colors from D.H. Lawrence and letters to the publishers from Frieda Lawrence in the attic of one of the cabins.

We are surrounded by national forest and a small river flows from the mountains and into part of the village.

Taos is only 11 miles away and the Taos Ski Valley and Red River only about 30 minutes away. Taos Ski Valley reminds us of the Swiss/French/Austrian founders’ roots blended with the traditions and customs of the local Hispanic and Pueblo Indian cultures. Being the home of extreme skiing, this is just not a resort for experts, with many beginner and intermediate runs. The ski school is one of the nation’s best. It also has an excellent children’s day care and ski facility, both skiers and snowboarders are welcome.

Taos is home to more than twenty sites on the National Register of Historic Places. The Taos Pueblo has been occupied for nearly a millennium and is considered to be the oldest continuously inhabited community in the Unites States. The Taos Pueblo was added as an Unesco World Heritage Site in 1992 as one of the most significant historical cultural landmarks in the world;

There are many ways to explore art in Taos. Taos is an old art colony since 1899. Some of the artists’ studios have been preserved and may be viewed by visitors. Many of the historic sites are homes and studios of artists, including the Mabel Dodge Luhan House,Eanger Irving Couse House and Studio, Joseph Henry Sharp Studios, the Leon Gaspard House, the Couse/Sharp Historic Site and the Ernest Martin Hennings House. On Ledoux Street, just south of the Taos Plaza, are the Ernest L. Blumenschein House and Harwood House.

There are three Art Museums in Taos: Harwood Museum of Art, Taos Art Museum and Millicent Rogers Museum that provide art from the pueblo Native Americans, Taos Society of Artists and modern and contemporary artists of the Taos art colony. The town has numerous art galleries and there are several houses of the Taos Society of Artists.

5.0 "Relaxing and Beautiful"

This cabin stay was perfectly relaxing and beautiful. The scenery is lovely and we had a great time walking around the farm and visiting all the animals. We enjoyed a very cozy fire in our cabin one night and were surprised at how warm it stayed inside even when we had our heat turned down to 60F at night. The bed was really comfortable and even though we weren't able to enjoy the Japanese style hot tub, the host allowed us to use a different hot tub that we could relax in and see the night sky. The Market down the road had all the little things we wanted for food and drinks and we ended up catching Karaoke night on Friday at the lounge connected to the Market. We went to Sipapu to snowboard and got a great deal on lift tickets ($41 for two days?!), which was an enjoyable 50 min scenic drive from the cabin. I couldn't have imagined a better trip and we are hoping to come back and visit in the summer!

4.4 "Cozy Stay"

We were surprised with how small the room was compared to the photos provided on Airbnb. There was no trash liner in the trash can and little counter space for cooking. No dish rack, just to consider that if you plan on cooking during your stay. Great information in the binder provided but information slightly inaccurate as some of the amenities we paid for (like access to the sauna and hot tub) were not useable in the way the binder explained they would be. We did not end up being able to use them which was pretty disappointing. Overall, it was a cozy stay.

4.6 "Historic Old Cabin"

A rural location but cabin is very close to other cabins. We were hoping for a bit more privacy , to less people and cars close to our cabin. It is a duplex (stated in info). But is also right next to another duplex and free standing cabin. And next to a car park with 2 other buildings. The hot tub is shared between the 6+ cabins . in the day there is not much visual privacy. At night it is better. The stars are amazing . It snowed we got in early in the morning with the snow and we only saw 3 people while sitting in the tub that time. It was beautiful in the snow The cabin is warm! There is a heat pump and a log fire and it gets lovely and toasty. A dog friendly location, a number of other guests had dogs. There was dog hair on the floor of our cabin. We do not have a dog. Host was very prompt and pleasant when we asked for more towels and fire wood. Compact historic old cabin. On initially coming into room smells musty then it’s fine.

5.0 "Communicative hosts!"

Sia and Eric are communicative hosts, who really care about the property and their guests. The cabins are small as they are essentially homestead cabins, so keep that in-mind. But the amenities are great— excellent hot water, the most lovely bath soap I ever used, and of course, free access to farm fresh tomatoes that I have been enjoying for days since! Would stay again.

5.0 "Perfect Retreat!"

Sia and Eric’s cabin was exactly as listed. Easy check in and check out, cozy and accommodating space, and a lot to check out on the farm if you decide to explore it. We found the cabin to be the perfect retreat after hiking, exploring town, etc. We appreciated the pet friendly accommodation and the inclusion of a washer/dryer on the property. Would definitely stay again!

5.0 "Eco farm place!"

A great stay! Would highly recommend to family and friends! I know this might sound strange, but I feel like this is one of those places that unfolds the longer you stay there. If you just rush through, you’ll miss the beauty and just see an eco farm off a dirt road. But if you stay a few nights or more, you’ll see and feel the history of the place and appreciate the farm animals and the trees and gardens! Really wonderful. I brought my dog and he had some nose to nose moments with one of the alpacas. I would say this place is excellent for dogs, kids and people who enjoy nature. We fit that bill, so 5 stars! Thanks to the hosts for having an eco farm vision!

4.0 "Very cozy and comfortable"

We had a wonderful two days! Highlights: BABY GOATS! Cool summer temperatures! Hot tub! The cabin was exactly as expected, very cozy and comfortable. A bathtub was a plus! There were lots of antique artifacts to see there on the historic farm. The cabins were all historical, and we enjoyed reading Eric's description of how they came to own the farm. Northern New Mexico is such a beautiful area; I would encourage anyone to visit at any time of year. We would be very happy to stay at Sia & Eric's farm again in the future.
